Inspiration
As a child, one of my fondest memories is that of driving around during the holiday season, looking at all of the Holiday lights. My Mom would enthusiastically say, ''Oooh...'' and my siblings as well as any of our friends that were in the car were encouraged to follow up and mirror, with excitement, ''Ahhh...''
We would laugh and giggle, looking out the windows, struck by the beauty of the lights and the magic of the season... the twinking lights, the music and the characters dancing in the wind. I'll never forget the feelings of those nights... nor the feeling of community and love of family.
Tragically, after years and years of sobriety and a relatively short relapse, my Mom passed away from a heroin overdose right here in Cincinnati, OH when I was 13 years old.
As an adult, with 4 children of my own, anytime we walk or drive around and see lights, I think, ''These people deserve an award... for making other people so happy!!'' My mother's legacy lives on in all of her children, grandchildren, and all those who knew her... and now, through this event!

I'm currently recruiting sponsors for the event. Sponsors are expected to donate a gift card of their choice to the winner of the week (6 weeks - November 27th - January 1st ) as well as provide a monetary donation, no less than $50, to the charities listed below. Maslow's Army - Maslow's Army provides 100% free service, voluntarily helping homeless and less fortunate addict's, alcoholic and mentally ill, by setting goals and achieving success.
Santa Maria Center - Santa Maria is a Cincinnati non-profit that is a catalyst and advocate for Greater Price Hill families to attain their educational, financial, and health goals.
